When a Madison, WI bar and restaurant was looking for the perfect coated concrete flooring system for their new kitchen and bar space, the sought out Floorcare USA, Inc., of Waukesha, WI.
The client initially felt an epoxy coated concrete floor would be the right solution for their Madison, WI bar and kitchen floors but after discussing it, it was decided that Urethane Modified Cement floors are the best flooring system in a fluid applied concrete coating system.
Urethane Modified Cement floors are the preferred flooring system in kitchen spaces and food/beverage processing facilities. They perform better and last longer than any floor system on the market (if maintained properly of course).
The specific performance attributes/advantages of a fluid applied concrete floor coating system using Urethane Modified Cement include:
On this Madison, WI kitchen and bar project the floors were mechanically prepped and then the new concrete had a high moisture tolerant primer system installed. A high moisture tolerant primer is important on new concrete as traditional epoxy coated concrete products will not adhere or stick to new concrete.
Once the floors were primed, they were patched and the joints were filled. The cove strips were mounted around the perimeter of the specified walls and troweled vertical cove in urethane modified cement trowel system was installed. A troweled vertical cove is a key element in a kitchen floor, bar floor or food processing concrete floor system as it creates fluid and chemical containment around the perimeter of a room and prevents insects or pests for contaminating the room.
Then the concrete was primed with Urethane Modified Cement primer system in the client’s selected colorant and allowed to tack up.
Once the primer system tacked up, Floorcare USA, applied the urethane modified cement resurfacing system with blended aggregates for texture in the client selected colorant and allowed to fully cure. Once the concrete coating system had cured a grout coat of urethane modified cement in the client’s selected colorant was applied and allowed to fully cure. Once the grout coat has cured, a top coat of High Traffic System urethane in satin finish was applied and allowed to fully cure.
Upon completion this Madison, WI bar and restaurant has seamless coated concrete floors that are durable, beautiful, easy to clean, UV-stable, High Traction per ANSI B101.1 standards and will provide years of reliable service if maintained properly.
